Western populism is not dead, and you are being unfair to Canadian voters. They had no populist candidates for whom to vote! None. They don't select their candidates any more than Americans do. Canada is not a representative democracy any more than America is.

In this Most Important Canadian Election Ever, 32% of Canadian voters stayed home. Almost a full third of them just said none of Canada's political parties re-present them, and they are correct.

Besides, not one Canadian political party even mentioned Palestine in its platform. Not one! And not one offered an alternative to capitalism. IOW, Canadians are as unable to vote their way out of this mess as Americans.

Maxime Bernier’s PPC fielded an entire roster of populists nationwide… said party got less than a million votes this election. So you're incorrect here when you say that there is no 'Populist Candidates' to pick from... they did have such a roster… they simply chose to ignore them.

As for turnout… 68.7% is much higher than previous cycles, since many will never vote anyhow (I consider these people too apathetic to matter in the grand scheme of things).

My position (& I will put my cards on the table) is that boredom, apathy & indifference are the true winners of the 🇨🇦 election (& likewise future elections across the West), meaning that by default the “establishment” will overcome the revolutionaries (namely, the populists). That’s now the mega trend & we will see it become more concrete in the coming years 😉

This piece is a collection of aphorisms and doesn't say much but at great length

You can read my longer form content, where I do actual Numbers, Citations, & Bibliography. 😎

Pay special attention to 'The Next 100 Years: Predicting 2025-2125':

Shorter pieces exist for a different purpose. This one in particular is not about 'showing all the evidence' but pointing to the direction of travel. As for 'Show me the proof! 😡'... that's where longer pieces like the aforementioned one, truly shine. 😊

Fair enough, I accept that explanation for the irritating aphoristic format. Better to avoid in future, my advice for what it's worth. I note a blog called Myths Debunked which takes deep deep dives into contemporary issues that give fear to folk. You may like to chase it up on Substack, I think his format would suit your obvious knowledgeablity, if that's the correct spelling!

Not everyone likes the 'fact-dense' format.

I have a wide variety of Dear Readers & Listeners, so I write for them all to the best of my ability... that said, thanks for your feedback! 😊
